Although we had reserves in place for the funding of salaries, we did not have a financial budget for funding of bursaries and this is an area we felt not only met with the Fund’s criteria, but would be hugely beneficial to the cancer patients in allowing them the opportunity to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

In the past, bursaries were given to individuals on a supply and demand basis, however, we felt this was unprofessional. In April 2008 the Fund received enough funding from Charitable Foundations to give grants to all patients seeking additional help with furthering their education. Since April we have granted awards from £250 to £500 to over fifteen patients. A big thank you to the Garfield Weston Foundation and The JK Foundation for their financial support of bursaries.
